The fight against hunger sometimes encounters apathy from Americans who view it as a far away problem. Discussion of childhood hunger may conjure up images of dark-skinned children in African countries. But the truth is hunger is a global issue and affects developed and developing countries alike — even theUnited States. In 2010, for example, there were 48.8 million Americans living in food insecure households. In that same year, over 16 million children lived in food insecure houses. These are families — children — who don’t have access to consistent, nutritious meals. These are Americans whose potential and prosperity are gravely threatened by lack of food.
Two Degrees is committed to fight childhood hunger no matter where it exists. As such, we’re tremendously excited to announce our newly formed partnership with Feeding America, the nation’s leading domestic hunger-relief charity. Through a nationwide network of food banks, Feeding America provides nutritious, fresh foods to Americans struggling with hunger. Food insecurity is a serious threat to the healthy development of American children, and Feeding America has taken the lead in providing critical meals for those in need.
We’re a one-for-one food company. You bet our gluten free, vegan bars are tasty and healthy, but they also make an impact on world hunger — wherever it exists. For every bar you buy, we give a meal to a hungry child. Now your impact will also be felt here in the United States. Thank you for your continued support and join us in celebrating a powerful new partnership between Two Degrees and Feeding America!
