Hiring Director of Operations & Supply Chain


2 Degrees Food is the first Buy-One-Give-One food company. For every snack product we sell, we donate a meal to a hungry child through our nonprofit partners.  The Company’s strong, growing brand, high quality products, and delicious flavors generated national media recognition on the Today’s Show, Entrepreneur Magazine, GOOD Business, Inc., ABC News and Women’s Magazine among others.

The Company distributes its product in various channels: retail (retailers/distributors) direct, and in corporate offices, airlines, yoga studios, bookstores  and events around the country. 2 Degrees is rapidly gaining brand recognition in all channels, highlighted by its continued sales growth and expanding customer base.


The company is looking for a hands-on, entrepreneurial minded operations professional to manage the day-to-day business operations and supply chain of the company. The Director of Operations & Supply Chain works with the CEO, and manages a very small team of less than 10 employees, as well as the outsourced manufacturing and fulfillment functions. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who is motivated, hungry, highly organized, and very proficient at project management with many moving pieces in various sectors.

This is the perfect role for a seasoned professional seeking a position within a fast growing startup social enterprise food company. It’s a “ground up” opportunity with long term potential and opportunities growth based on performance. Here are more of your specific roles and responsibilities

Business Operations

  •  Manage all day-to-day business operations, including systems & processes, operational/financial reporting, HR,, and administration.

  • Develop, implement and maintain a long-range strategic plan for the department based on company’s vision and mission

  • Review and  implement scalable processes & systems (from order processing, forecasting to production planning, freight & logistics)

  • Will  directly manage two employees in account management and order fulfillment

  • Maintain membership and active participation in all trade and professional associations that benefit the company and employee, respectively.

  •  Establish, build and maintain strategic alliances and business relationships that help further company’s strategic plans and objectives.

  • Report on a timely basis all significant plans, results, activities and events to the CEO, and seek CEOs counsel where appropriate or as needed

  • Oversee all purchasing activities of the company, including ordering, shipping, receiving and processing of all goods and service.

  •  Oversee all shipping activities of the company to ensure timely and satisfactory fulfillment of all customer orders.

  • Manage department records, including manufacturing, quality control, inventory and all other department files, records and documents.


  • Manage supply chain and procurement processes, with a tight focus on improving costs/cogs.

  • Procure and manage materials vendors. Negotiate optimal pricing and contract terms

  •  Value engineer and achieve margin improvement.

Production / QA

  •  Effectively manage co-packers and warehouse (e.g., limit scrap, cut out bottlenecks and determine payback of automation equipment when it makes sense). Develop and maintain good working relationship with co-packers and their employees.

  • Manage Quality Assurance process.

  • Oversee product inventories of finished product, raw materials and manufacturing supplies.

           • Work with co-packer to manage certification process, shelf life test products, micro testing, audits of co-packers etc.

         • Review of all product quality control test results, the assurance that all product passes quality control inspection and testing prior to release for sale, and the approval in writing of all certificates of analysis of product released for sale.


Customer service / Order processes

  • Supervise accurate and efficient order processing, fulfillment, and billing processes (e.g., order entry, invoicing, returns, customer hierarchies when supply is tight)

  • Define and manage cost effective and efficient freight/logistics systems.

• Supply chain knowledge across warehousing, freight & handling fees, etc.

  • Establish a culture of exceptional customer service and satisfaction.

  • Review product sales, inventory and purchase projections with the sales and financial managers on a bi-weekly basis, and obtain the sales and financial managers written approval of said purchase projections.

  • Ensure that all customer orders are shipped by the most cost effective means available, using carriers that offer the best possible service at the best possible price.


  • 5+ years of project and business management experience with emphasis on supply chain management.

  • Experience in food manufacturing or CPG.

           • Experience working for a start-up / small company.

            • Direct P & L responsibility.

           • Extremely sharp, attentive to detail, have very strong people management skills.

           •High proficiency utilizing business applications including Excel and QuickBooks.
